My name is Natalie DiProspero. I’m a neuroscientist, science communicator, and advocate for science outreach.
I earned my PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine in October 2023. The focus of my research was identifying structural and functional neuroimaging biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease in people with Down syndrome. Check out my interview for the UCI Center for Aging Research in Down Syndrome DiscoverieS Series for more details about my PhD research and my neuroscience career journey.
I was a writer and editor for an NPR podcast called The Loh Down on Science, which is broadcast five times per week to over four million listeners on 150 public radio stations across the US. Each episode offers a humorous summary of a recent scientific discovery in 90 seconds or less. You can access my episodes here.
I also led a neuroscience outreach effort called the UCI Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory Ambassador Program that served K-12 students, undergraduates, adults, and seniors in the greater Orange County and Los Angeles communities. You can learn more about the Ambassador Program here.
